The Poppy problem

It’s that time of year again when everyone’s favourite accessory is a poppy.

I got mine today on the way to work from a nice elderly lady collecting proceeds in the centre of town,  I got on the tram wearing it with pride. However, as I sat down, a woman opposite me was flaunting a Buckley Swarovski crystal version which seemingly made my poppy wilt. But is this the right message? should Remembrance Poppy’s be a fashion statement, a way to show off? Or is it in fact an ingenious way of reaching out to the younger generation?
